Merlin's nephew had his mission farewell this weekend so we packed up the minivan and left central Utah and headed for southern Utah. Ten minutes into our 4 hour drive Brother said, very excited, "Are we almost there, Dad?"
It was a very snowy weekend. Saturday night we left Merlin's sisters house to go back to his Dads house. The regular 20 minute drive took us over an hour. It was a blizzard. The only way to stay on the road was by following the fading tire tracks in front of us. As we got closer to our destination Merlin noticed that there were no cars headed north on I-15. We figured that the highway must have been closed due to the weather. We were wrong. As we reached the top of the last pass before our exit we could see nothing but headlights at a complete stand still. A semi truck jack knifed and was blocking all north bound lanes of I-15.
The ride home was much better. The sun had melted off all the snow and the roads were clear. When we were about 10 miles from home Little Sister said, "Mom, are we in Utah?"
"Yes Dear, we are in Utah."
"YES! BROTHER WE ARE ALMOST HOME!"
