We Believe...

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints there are many things I/we believe in. One of the first things we’re taught as children are the Articles of Faith. 13 statements that summarize our fundamental beliefs.

Big Sister has been working on receiving her Faith in God award. One of the requirements for the award is memorizing the Articles of Faith. She asked me if I could pass her off on number 10. She recited it perfectly, except for two words. Which totally changed the meaning of the statement. The correct statement is,

10. WE BELIEVE in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

She said,
10. WE BELIEVE in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will regain personality upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

So close, and yet so far away.
